Independent Newsmedia launched "What's Open" and "Yes, We're Open" campaigns to help with  community awareness on how local businesses are operating during this national pandemic.

"What's Open" is a free service to all businesses on YourValley.net. Just click on the blue words in the “What’s Open” ticker at the top of the page and “Add My Business.”

Business stakeholders can fill out an online form to alert YourValley.net readers about changing services and new operating hours. While the service is free of charge, there are options for businesses to upgrade their listing and/or buy an advertisement in one of Independent Newsmedia's print products.

Independent Newsmedia is offering the complimentary posts on YourValley.net to keep brand awareness  alive for local businesses. Those interested in additional marketing through our “Yes, We’re Open” pages can email azads@newszap.com for a complimentary  marketing analysis.

Residents are rallying together in email chains and on social media to push local spending.

Gail Allan of Peoria  encouraged community members to keep up their weekly routine and visit local restaurants.

"We are now going to do take out at least twice a week, and tip as if we were in the restaurant, " Ms. Allan stated in an email. "Our little bit to help local economy. We are going to rotate among our favorites in Peoria."

Surprise resident Tony Ringhoffer posted on his Twitter account @tringhoffer his pledge to support local businesses by  getting takeout March 20 at Vogue Bistro, 15411 W. Waddell Road. "Amazing! Beef Wellington & Au Gratin Potato, and then stuffed Dover with Couscous," he tweeted.

Vicki Cooper of  Giordano's, 16222 N. 83rd Ave., Peoria,  appreciated Ms. Allan's sentiment.

"We are continuing to offer take out (curbside service available) and delivery within a 5-mile radius of the restaurant (no contact delivery available)," Ms. Cooper stated in the email chain. "We are offering a limited menu of pizza, wings and house or caesar salad. We will continue to serve until instructed otherwise."

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said  there is no need for a stay-at-home order on March 20, but the day prior he did close dining inside options at bars and restaurants and closed movie theaters and gyms.  He also closed Arizona schools until April 10.
